Immersed 25: a multi-media festival of music, film, art, fashion, and performance
The University of South Wales presents Immersed 25: a multi-media festival of music, film, art, fashion, and performance curated by creative industries students and supported by Creative Wales to raise awareness for Music Declares Emergency, the industry’s climate change awareness charity.
Immersed returns for a seventh year with an action-packed showcase of music, film, art, fashion and theatre, with headliners Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn bringing their electrifying live show of hip-hop, garage, and electronic dance to Wales for the first time. Following their collaborations with artists like Loyle Carner, Sam Tompkins and Kojey Radical, this gig promises to be an unmissable night of high-energy and emotional performance.
Main support is provided by Porij, bringing their energetic fusion of funk, synth pop and lo-fi to the Immersed main stage, along with DJ & Producer Douvelle19 who will be spinning his unique brand of garage-inspired dance music.
Joining the lineup are over thirty artists and bands across four stages, including Cardiff’s community music initiative Sound Progression. The programme spans an entire month, featuring an industry-leading skills development programme where we will share insights into the production processes behind the festival, alongside a careers fair, film screenings, art installations, fringe gigs & Immersed TV broadcast.
Following 2024’s Future Utopias theme which brought together the entire cultural power of USW in a celebration of creativity and optimism, our theme for Immersed 2025 is Regeneration. Under this heading, Immersed will be rethinking, restoring and rebuilding creative solutions that better our wellbeing and our world, emphasising our belief in the power of collective imagination and regeneration to spark the positive change. For 2025, we present four stages of live music, immersive theatre and short film screenings, along with a host of interactive workshops, networking and art installations linked to our environmental mission. This year, our production team will also be piloting a sustainable energy solution for the lighting design of the event. Expect new ideas, media and technology as we explore regenerating for future generations.
Get ready for a supercharged fusion of rock, rap, punk, hyperpop, grime and dance. Witness an explosion of creativity, a celebration of diversity and an immersion into a festival like no other.
Dr Huw Stephens, BBC Radio DJ said:
“Immersed has become a welcome addition to the live music scene in Wales. It’s focus on talent, creativity and production is invaluable, and its work with students in nurturing their community is highly successful. The event itself is professionally delivered, with a special experience for those involved.”
Adam Williams, Dean: Faculty of Business & Creative Industries, University of South Wales said:
“Immersed 2025 is a powerful testament to the creativity, innovation, and commitment of our students to address the biggest challenges of our time. Through the lens of ‘Regeneration,’ this year’s festival is not just a celebration of music, film, art, and fashion—it’s a call to action. Together with Creative Wales and Music Declares Emergency, we’re reimagining what a sustainable future looks like, harnessing the energy and imagination of the next generation of creators to inspire positive change.”
Lewis Jamieson, Director Music Declares Emergency said:
“Immersed has grown into a major event in the UK music calendar and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team at USW and the students. Music Declares Emergency is honoured to partner with Immersed and we look forward to this year’s work around ‘regeneration’, a key part of the journey towards a better future for all life on earth that is often overlooked in the rightly urgent concern to arrest and reverse the climate emergency.”
