CARDIFF MUSIC CITY’S PRIVACY POLICY


This privacy policy will explain how Cardiff Music City uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website or sign up to our mailing list to receive marketing emails or enter our competitions or prize draws.

Cardiff Music City is part of Cardiff Council, who is the Data Controller for the purposes of the data collected. All personal data is processed in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

What data do we collect?

Cardiff Music City collects the following data:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Post code

This is collected for the purpose of receiving updates relating to music, events, things to do and more from the team. The Cardiff Music City Festival is one of many projects from Cardiff Music City, managed by Cardiff Council.  Periodically there may also be competitions or giveaways with an option to be added to the marketing mailing list.

Data Protection law describes the legal basis for our processing your data as necessary for the performance of (a) Consent: the individual has given clear consent for you to process their personal data for a specific purpose.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide Cardiff Music City with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register to receive emails for events that may be of be of interest to you.
  • When entering a giveaway or competition.
  • Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email.
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.

Cardiff Music City may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:

Where you may have opted in to receive our marketing materials from a partner (for example when purchasing a ticket for an event that Cardiff Music City is involved in creating).

How will we use your data?

Cardiff Music City collects your data so that we can:

  • Process your order and manage your account.
  • Email you with news about Cardiff Music City activities – including that of the festival and from partners.
  • Email you with news and special offers on other products and services we think you might like.

To take part in a giveaway or competition and so that we may be able to contact you about any prize.

How do we store your data?

Cardiff Music City securely stores your data with secure password protected systems and via Mailchimp. Mailchimp is a marketing automation platform in America, and by clicking to subscribe you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to Mailchimp for processing. For giveaways and competitions, your data is also stored via secure password protected systems with Mailchimp and through the third party site Mailchimp
Competitions or prize draws will collect your data using Snap Surveys.   Snap Surveys Limited and Snap Surveys NH, Inc. (“Snap Surveys”, or “we” or “us”) are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. Thier privacy policy describes how they capture and use the personal information that they gather about visitors to their website and users of our products and services: https://www.snapsurveys.com/survey-software/privacy-policy-us/

The Snap Survey form will collect data involving your name, email address and postcode, with an option to opt in to the Cardiff Music City mailing list (and also an opt-in to hear from partners, where appropriate).

Cardiff Music City will keep your email sign up data until you withdraw your consent or until three years have passed. You can unsubscribe or update your preferences at any time by clicking the link in the footer of our emails or by contacting the team at Cardiff Music City directly at musiccity@visitcardiff.com.

For competition or prize draw data, those not opted in to receive marketing data will have their data stored until winner has been notified (for up to 3 months). Once this time period has expired, we will delete your data by removing from our systems.

Marketing

Cardiff Music City would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like, as well as those of our partner companies.

Although we do not share your personal data with third party organisations or partners, you may receive emails from us signposting you to their events and businesses and services. Please click the Unsubscribe option on our marketing emails or email the team at musiccity@visitcardiff.com if you’d like to opt out at any point.

If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.

You have the right at any time to stop Cardiff Music City from contacting you for marketing purposes or giving your data to other members of Cardiff Council.

What are your data protection rights?

Cardiff Music City would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
