‘Little Gigs’ back with a bang at Cardiff Music City Festival 2025

The spotlight is set to shine on some of Cardiff’s brightest young musical talent as ‘Little Gigs’ returns for a special showcase at this year’s Cardiff Music City Festival.

Taking place on Wednesday 15 October at one of the city’s vibrant festival venues, this one-off gig will feature six standout bands from the 2024/25 Little Gigs series — a grassroots talent development initiative that’s been making waves across Cardiff’s music scene.

Inspired in their schools by live gigs from established artists, these talented young pupils have gone on to receive expert mentoring, enjoy workshops on designing their own merch, deliver electrifying performances at Pride Cymru and grow into confident performers and creators. Now, they’re ready to take the stage once again — this time as part of a two-week celebration of Cardiff’s musical culture and creative spirit.

The Little Gigs programme is delivered by The Cardiff Curriculum Team with the support of Cerdd CF under the National Music Plan, and provides enriching curricular experiences for learners across the city, in line with the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales – ensuring young people are ready to learn, ready to participate, ready to be citizens and ready to lead fulfilling lives.

Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Events, Cllr Jennifer Burke, said: “Cardiff is such a vibrant city, full of music, artistic expression and innovation. The ‘Little Gigs’ programme in our schools aims to develop the city’s next wave of artists. It’s been a real success story so far, and the Cardiff Music City Festival is an amazing opportunity to celebrate their creativity and showcase their talent.”

Running from 3–18 October, Cardiff Music City Festival 2025 promises two weeks of genre-bending performances, immersive experiences, and unforgettable moments. Little Gigs is proud to be part of this celebration — bringing fresh energy, raw talent, and a whole lot of heart.
