Wax Tailor to play his only UK show of 2026 at Cardiff's CULTVR Dome as part of Cardiff Music City Festival

One of the defining artists of contemporary trip hop and cinematic hip hop, Wax Tailor will return to the UK this autumn for his only UK performance of 2026, bringing his acclaimed Solo Set + Video Show to Cardiff’s immersive CULTVR Dome on the 17th of October as part of Cardiff Music City Festival.

With support from internationally respected MC Napoleon Da Legend, the evening promises an audiovisual performance that reflects Wax Tailor’s unique approach to live electronic music, where cinematic visuals, storytelling and meticulously crafted beats combine to create an experience as compelling visually as it is musically.

For more than two decades, Wax Tailor has been at the forefront of the French independent hip hop and electronic scene. Renowned for blending trip hop, cinematic orchestration, soul, jazz and vintage sampling into richly textured soundscapes, he has become one of the genre’s defining artists.

After emerging with the acclaimed EP Lost The Way in 2004, Wax Tailor released his landmark debut album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies in 2005, now widely regarded as a modern classic. Since then, he has released seven studio albums, a live album recorded at the legendary Olympia in Paris, multiple EPs, and performed more than 600 concerts across over 50 countries, captivating audiences of more than one million people worldwide.

His distinctive work has earned three nominations for Best Electronic Album at France’s Victoires de la Musique, the Independent Music Award in the United States, and the prestigious SACEM Grand Prize for Electronic Music.

Throughout his career, Wax Tailor has collaborated with an exceptional roster of artists including Ghostface Killah, Tricky, Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, Aloe Blacc, Mark Lanegan, Del The Funky Homosapien, R.A. The Rugged Man, Ursula Rucker, Jennifer Charles and Elzhi, while also producing acclaimed remixes for Nina Simone, Ayo and Asa.

Hosted inside Cardiff’s CULTVR Dome, this exclusive UK performance places audiences inside a fully immersive audiovisual environment that complements the cinematic qualities of Wax Tailor’s music, offering a rare opportunity to experience one of the genre’s most influential independent artists in an intimate setting.
