Paradise Garden’s 4th Birthday with Cami Layé Okún & Don Leisure

As part of Cardiff Music City Festival 2026, Paradise Garden celebrates its 4th birthday on Saturday 3rd October, with two very special guests: Cuban DJ, selector and radio host Cami Layé Okún, and Cardiff-based producer, DJ and composer Don Leisure.

Both artists share a deep love of record digging, uncovering sounds from across the world and creating sets and productions that take listeners on a journey.

Cami Layé Okún

Cami Layé Okún is a Cuban DJ, selector and radio host who has performed on some of the finest stages around the world. With a unique sensibility, she finds her most intimate expression on the dancefloor and through the airwaves, where she hosts INSOLAR, her monthly radio show on NTS.

Her narrative-driven approach and deeply personal form of sonic storytelling shape her work. With an innate intuition for making the dancefloor move, Cami sets the tone whether controlling a peak-time headline club, taking a crowd on a journey through an extended set, or delivering one of her standout festival performances.

Her focus lies less on pleasing and more on sharing an ongoing love for the musical journey. Fuelled by a relentless search as a digger and ethnomusicologist, she unearths organic rhythms from across the world. Performing exclusively on vinyl, her sonic adventures traverse textures and eras, weaving together Cuban disco, forward-thinking Latin electronics, Caribbean oddities, Tropical Amazonian rhythms and global grooves.

Don Leisure

Don Leisure is a Cardiff-based producer, DJ and composer whose work blends hip-hop, jazz and electronic music into immersive, sample-led productions. Across his solo releases and collaborations, he has developed a distinctive approach to making music, drawing heavily from a deep love of record digging and the endless possibilities found within the sounds he uncovers.

In 2025, this love of digging came to the forefront with Tyrchu Sain, a project built around his exploration of the extensive archive of legendary Welsh label Sain. Uncovering forgotten recordings and reimagining them through beats, loops and analogue warmth, the album brings together fragments of Welsh musical history with Don’s contemporary, genre-spanning production style.

Featuring collaborations with artists including Gruff Rhys, Carwyn Ellis, Dafydd Iwan, Amanda Whiting and Boy Azooga, Tyrchu Sain went on to win the 2025 Welsh Music Prize. The album became a journey of discovery, connecting the sounds of Wales’ musical past with Don’s deeply rooted love of sampling, beatmaking and crate digging.

Join Paradise Garden at Cardiff Music City Festival this Saturday, 3rd October, as they celebrate four years with two artists who share a passion for digging deep, exploring new sounds and bringing people together on the dancefloor.
