Join renowned photographer Julia Gorton for a talk and discussion about her work.
Julia Gorton will be joining us from the US to bring her ‘Portrait Studio’ project to Cardiff for the first time. Through this project she documents anyone and everyone who wants to be photographed within a city’s subcultural scene, creating an archive of the people, the scene, and the moment.
Julia started her career as the photographer/creative director/publisher of the No Wave fanzine ‘Beat It!’ which focused on the Downtown New York music scene in the late 70s – a formative time and scene for global music culture. Her photos of musicians have been seen in magazines, books, and exhibitions across the world.
N.B. If you’re intending to stay for the launch/gig after the talk, please also book a ticket for that part of the evening as the venue has a strict total capacity of 100 people.
