MORE ABOUT CARDIFF MUSIC BOARD

Cardiff Council has established a Cardiff Music Board to help support, sustain and grow Cardiff’s music ecosystem.

The Sound Diplomacy Cardiff Report made a series of recommendations for the remit and composition of the Board. Cardiff Council established the Board based on report recommendations and further research, developing terms of reference and a recruitment process.

The purpose of the board is to champion Cardiff’s music scene locally, nationally and internationally, protect and support music at grassroots and all levels, and to provide a platform for increased communication and collaboration across the sector.

The Cardiff Music Board enables experts from various sectors to work together towards delivering  shared goals to benefit and develop the music ecology and business in Cardiff, supporting the aspiration of Cardiff being recognised as a music friendly city.

Soon after the Cardiff Music Board was established, the Covid-19 pandemic saw Cardiff Music Board’s focus pivot to ensuring that the city’s music sector received the support it needed to survive the pandemic. More recently the work of the Board over recent years has had significant impact in supporting the sector and venues in an ever-changing city, ranging from responses to planning issues to shaping funding for the sector.
